Does salvation come and go?

The way some act, our salvation would appear to be so iffy and subject to change at any wrong we might do or think.
But is this the way the Bible portrays our salvation? I think not.
The Bible speaks about how intricately God knows us. He knew us even before we were formed in the womb. He knows our thoughts; he knows the number of hairs on our head.
The Bible teaches that NOTHING can separate us from the love of God.
The Bible teaches that NO ONE can pull us from God.
The Bible teaches that we are His; purchased with His blood, willingly shed for us. The Bible teaches God has cleansed us; set us free; clothed us in His righteousness.
The Bible teaches He will NEVER leave or forsake us.
On and on it goes.
Yet we leave a church group and a building and supposedly we're backslidden and lost and now something bad is going to happen to us.
Do you see the picture I am trying to paint for you? See how the fear that was instilled in you distorted your view? Change your focus to God and His Word. Therein you will find the truth to the situation and peace for your soul.
God is not the author of confusion.
Jesus shed His blood for us- why then would He want us to cower in His presence? God is our Father- in that, He wants us to come to Him; invites us to come to Him.
Fear permeates the teachings.
That's why so many periodically question their salvation. It's why people give up, thinking they just can't live up to all that is expected. That's why so many live a roller coaster ride and have to have the high from an "excited" church service so they'll feel ok for a day or so. It's why some will follow certain standards because 'we can't be sure' and they'd rather be 'safe than sorry.'
That's why when someone leaves, they often grapple with the fear of "what if" ....or are scared by foreboding calls or letters from a former pastor or church member.
When someone leaves a healthy church, they do not fear losing their salvation or that God will do something bad to them because they left. But those in an unhealthy church atmosphere encounter this fear. It is because so much was attached to their salvation and leaving that church or group supposedly equates to leaving God and truth.
Our salvation, that came at a very high price to God, is NOT something that comes and goes from day to day. You need not fear being lost simply because you left a building and a group of people that met in that building. Our salvation is sooooo much more than that.

Lois you blogs have been nothing but a blessing,, You have answered so many question that i had.. God is using greatly through all your writings....... As i sit here in relief of knowin that I am not the only one who had to deal with these things.. It is making me stronger and stronger..Thanks.. Love ya God Bless
