The Simple Things

By Lynne Yohnk

I. (Simple thankfulness.)

A kiss on the cheek,
Children so sweet,
A good night's sleep,
A mountain so steep.

The beauty of a flower,
A taste, sweet and sour,
A tree, nature's tower,
A quiet, peaceful hour.

A walk by the creek,
A character very meek,
At a child sleeping, a peek,
Strength when one is weak.

II. (Into His presence.)

The presence of God,
Sweet Spirit in my soul so hot,
Making me into what I am not,
Hands raised high, what He has wrought!

Birds singing lifting me,
Nature's music inspiring me,
I blend into what I need to be,
For a moment raptured, Oh what I see!

Like an eagle in the sky,
Up to His arms I do fly,
His presence envelops me else I die,
With Him I soar way up high.

III. (Back to earth.)

Children, kitties, dogs and cats,
On the back nice little pats,
Sunny day shining upon my back,
Simple things......I'm thankful for that.
