Documents & Audio Clips

This page contains links to actual Apostolic church documents and audio clips. It covers such things as hair standards and choir guidelines. It is provided, in part, because there are some who think that people make up incidents that happened in their former churches. Providing actual documents and audio clips from sermons will help to show exactly what was taught.

Pentecostal Church Incorporated Manual- The PCI is one of two Oneness Pentecostal groups that merged to form the United Pentecostal Church. This is their Manual.

Church Incorporation: 501(c)(3) Status- Most churches incorporate in order to obtain a non-profit status. This is known as a 501(c)(3) status. This contains the incorporation document from a United Pentecostal Church in the state of New York.

Church By-Laws- Any church that is incorporated as a 501(c)(3) in order to obtain a non-profit status, must have by-laws. This contains the by-laws from a United Pentecostal Church in the state of New York as well as links to other churches. Information is also included where this church attempted to use their by-laws as a reason to not pay money owed from a breach of contract with a former member. It also briefly addresses an important issue of resigning membership when leaving an unhealthy church.

UPC Church Constitution- This is the church constitution from a United Pentecostal Church in Kennett, Missouri.

The Role Of A Presbyter- This is an article by United Pentecostal Church pastor Ken Gurley on the role of a presbyter. Every District in the UPCI has presbyters.

Life Tabernacle Handbook: A Survival Guide To Christian Living- This church handbook is from the late 90s to early 2000s and is from Life Tabernacle in Bellevue, Washington. It was a legally affiliated United Pentecostal Church whose pastor was Harold Kern. Kern no longer holds license with them and is retired. Life Tabernacle was founded in 1972 by Harold Kern and in 2003 the name of the church was changed to Sanctuary of Praise. The church is now affiliated with the Worldwide Pentecostal Fellowship, which started when some UPCI ministers felt the organization was getting soft on standards. Some may recall the kidnapping and attempted deprogramming of Jason Scott and that case revolved around this church while Kern was the pastor.

The handbook instructs women on what they are permitted to do with their hair (no cutting, no dyes, wearing it up, the use of bows), the use of nylons, the prohibition of make-up and jewelry, sleeve length and neckline demands, the prohibition of pants, skorts, shorts and gauchos. A short section for boys and men is included, as well as other rules such as those for dating.

Sunday School Covenant- This was a covenant required for all Sunday School teachers in the 1990s. It is from the First Apostolic Church, a United Pentecostal Church in Aurora, Illinois.

Ministry Team Commitment Form- This contract is used by a United Pentecostal Church in Maine (2015 and prior) for anyone wishing to participate in choir, teaching, youth ministry, etc. It mandates your appearance, financial giving to the church, church attendance and making sure you always speak well about the church and pastor.

Guidelines For Choir Members- These are the choir guidelines that were issued by a United Pentecostal Church in Iowa. It mandates the appearance of those who sing in the choir.

Greeter/Usher Coordinators- These are the greeter and usher coordinator guidelines that were issued by a United Pentecostal Church in Iowa.

Guidelines For Sunday School Teachers- These are the Sunday School teacher guidelines that were issued by a United Pentecostal Church in Iowa.

Apostolic Hair Standard- These are the hair standards from a United Pentecostal Church, pastored by the late L.E. Westburg, in Kansas. Includes examples of permitted and non-permitted hair styles. Learn what color barrette you may use and how many pony tail holders are permitted. A former member shares the church was more culturally diverse than many in the UPC.

Faith Tabernacle Apostolic Church Rules- These are a partial list of the rules from the Faith Tabernacle Apostolic Church in Junction City, Kansas. While this is not an official church document, it is being included due to a story on the church and its former pastor, Edwin Young, being featured on the site.

Sermon Audio Clips- This contains 27 videos of audio clips from messages given by Edwin Young, Jordan Young and Nathan Dudley. L.E. Westberg has been added to these.

1952 Articles Of Faith- This is the actual United Pentecostal Church's Articles of Faith from 1952.

Qualifications For Delegated Responsibility- These two documents were required in an independent Apostolic church. In fact, a ten year old had to sign them.
