(3 John 1:4 NASB) - Me and My House

(3 John 1:4 NASB) "I have no greater joy than this, to hear of my children walking in the truth."

One of the blessings God has given a man and a woman is children and such is the case with my wife and I who have been blessed with four lovely children.............and now..........spouses and GRANDchildren.

I certainly have no problem identifying with Brother John in the scripture above. I, too, find no greater joy than hearing when my children are walking in the truth.............listening to the Lord..............putting Him first.

And I must say all of them are doing a much better job than me at that. I wish I could have had the focus and foresight to make the choices that I have seen them make in patterning their lives after the Lord. As I've shared before, I didn't get it until quite a bit later than they did, relatively speaking.

I've seen my children ministering to others...........doing the Lord's work. I've seen them decide to forgo what they wanted to put what the Lord wanted first. And I applaud them for that choice.

I hope my children will look at me and see past the faults I have. I hope they will see that it took awhile for me to get on the right path (with the Lord's help), but with His Strength and Grace I'll continue to steer the course He's laid out for me.

And just as Joshua said many years ago............"If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD." (Joshua 24:15 NASB)

Love in Jesus,

Jim
