(2 John 1:3 NASB) - Voice of Peace

(2 John 1:3 NASB) "Grace, mercy and peace will be with us, from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love."

(Psalms 147:14 ESV) "He makes peace in your borders; he fills you with the finest of the wheat."

There have been times I experienced as a child and as an adult when I've been at peace.........a peace that transcends anything of this earth and that has come from the Lord Himself. And some of these times, I still recall on occasion when I reflect back on my life.

On one particular summer morning in Minnesota, I awoke in my bed to the sound of a gentle wind blowing through the screen on my window. The breeze carried the smell of the summer into my bedroom.............it was warm on my face........and carried within it the sounds of birds busying themselves in their daily tasks. Far off there were the sounds of the city waking and beginning to go about in its commerce.

I remember how good all of that felt.............how secure I felt..........knowing I was in a place of peace. There was a special quality to those few minutes of time that I remember to this day.

I feel a similar peaceful feeling when I spend time to reflect on how the Lord has blessed me in life...........how He's been there for me through some tough times to show me the way through..............how He's given me the love that I need from Him to sustain me.

As David sings above.................the Lord "makes peace in" my borders. He has filled me with the greatest gift of all, His Spirit, to guide me on the Path He has set before me in my life.

Now I realize that those feelings of being at peace back then were really coming from Him.............through the wonders of His Creation...............because now I feel the same peace when I hear from Him through His Word...........when I feel His Touch in my life in some way..............I know His Voice now as His child...........and that Voice brings to me His Peace.

Love in Jesus,

Jim
