"The deceiver is always the most deceived of all." - Buddy Martin

I want to be sure to get a warning out to unsuspecting Christians. There are people out there who are deliberately deceptive as to their stand on a homosexual lifestyle and therefore cause unsuspecting Christians to believe they are against the lifestyle when they in reality are not.

In March of 2005, I found out that an individual I came to know on various Internet boards had been deliberately deceptive in expressing to Christians their true stand concerning a gay lifestyle. He would say he was against one, and felt in doing so he was not lying because he was meaning HIS definition of the lifestyle. However, his definition would not be what the normal Christian would take it to mean. Thus he deliberately worded things a certain way which caused a great many people on several boards to believe he had left the lifestyle and was trying to bring people out of it through the ministry he had. However, he would share privately to some struggling with homosexuality that a monogamous one on one relationship was okay.

If you encounter anyone who claims to no longer live a gay lifestyle, especially one claiming to have a calling to minister to gays and former gays, I strongly suggest that you nail the person down to exactly what they mean when they use the word lifestyle. It may not be what you assume it to mean.

In this situation, when the individual would write that he was against the homosexual lifestyle, what he meant was the multiple partners and the drinking and drugs which often accompany it. He did NOT mean a one on one monogamous homosexual relationship. So all the while that people believed he had left the lifestyle, all he'd done was leave the more wild aspect of multiple partners, drinking and using drugs. He had not left his one on one very long term relationship with his male partner.

The person who does this knows exactly what they are doing. They know that when they use the word lifestyle that Christians will take it to mean the whole thing while they themselves only mean a portion of it. They still distort the Scriptures which speak against this lifestyle. And they will encourage people who are gay to remain that way as well as encourage people who may be struggling with the issue that it is okay to be gay and a Christian.

I make this warning because many, many, many people were deceived by this man. He only revealed his true nature to a few who were either gay or struggling with the issue.

So if you know someone who is saying they no longer live the gay lifestyle, especially if they claim to be ministering to the gay community, you may want to pin them down to where they cannot wiggle around the meaning of "lifestyle".

Deceptions are a nasty thing to be caught in. But as a wise minister friend of mine shares, time is on the side of truth. What is done in darkness shall indeed be revealed by the Light.
